Last night, my wonderfully intelligent and principled friend Melissa Anelli posted a link to a story about how PayPal had pulled a fast one on Regretsy, subjecting them to multiple rounds of unnecessary processing fees and preventing them from carrying out a major charitable effort to help needy…
I’m so conflicted about all of this for the reasons Matt listed. I just finished writing to all of the services I use to sell things online begging them to use another payment option, but until they do that, I’m stuck. Bandcamp exclusively uses it too. I don’t want to support a service that does these things either but if they don’t offer another option and everyone stops using PayPal entirely, we are done being able to support ourselves with our art and dedicate this much time to doing what we love.
